Enel VS a2a
Which one would you choose?
Here’s our Friday stock comparison chart. This week I picked ENEL and a2a.
The European energy sector ha seen quite an inflow of cash in the last couple of years, especially after the the Russian and Ukrainian conflict escalated. On top of that the energy sector is an industry which is seldomly hit hard by inflation. This is mainly because energy is considered almost essential and both corporations and private citizens can not operate without it. Even if the price per kWh rises, most likely people will pay their bills to secure the energy supply. This is one of the reasons this sector is considered a great hedge during high inflation periods. Another reason to consider investing in the energy sector is that most European energy companies offer an above average dividend yield. For instance Enel offers a 7.01% Div yield and A2A offers a 4.37% Div yield.
Enel is an Italian corporation that operates in the energy sector as an integrated operator in electricity and gas industries worldwide. It generates, distributes, transmits and sells electricity; transports and markets natural gas; constructs and operates generation plants and distribution girds. It trades in the FTSE MIB index which includes the 40 largest Italian corporations by market capitalization. It employs about 60.000 employees and it also provides energy management services; e-vehicle charging infrastructure for public and private customers; and it engages in the energy commodities market. With a beta of just over 1 it is considered a non volatile stock, since it price moves along with the market’s price oscillation.
A2A s.p.a. engages in the production, sale, and distribution of gas and electricity, and district heating in Italy and internationally. The company generates electricity through hydroelectric, thermoelectric, photovoltaic, cogeneration, biomass, and wind plants; and sells and distributes gas. It also engages in the production and sale of heat produced through district heating networks; waste management activities. A2A also trades on the FTSE MIB and is a relatively younger corporation as opposed to Enel, however its 5 year return is higher than the FTSE MIB’s index by 39%. Something to keep in mind.
